Ascend Learning, a healthcare technology company, announced it has acquired Laudio, a healthcare management platform.

The companies said Laudio will "enhance Ascend's suite of workforce management tools and further extend Ascend's support of the healthcare workforce beyond the classroom, from student to practice."

Ascend Learning provides software-based, data-driven educational support aimed at accelerating learning, job readiness and employment success.

The company organizes its brands into three segments: healthcare, fitness and wellness, and safety and security.

The Ascend Learning platform serves students, educators, enterprises, employers and professionals. Its teams provide data-driven online educational content, software, assessments, analytics and simulations.

Laudio offers a healthcare management platform for providers aimed at streamlining administrative workflows. The platform also uses AI to provide healthcare managers with suggestions on how to engage with their team members to reduce turnover and burnout.

"Exceptional healthcare teams need both effective leadership and skilled professionals," Dr. Lissy Hu, CEO of Ascend Learning, said in a statement.

"By uniting Laudio’s expertise in amplifying leaders with Ascend’s know-how in the education and laddering of healthcare workers, together we can deliver a powerful and comprehensive workforce solution."

Dr. Russ Richmond, CEO and cofounder of Laudio, believes the alliance is "a natural fit" because the two companies share the same mission of dealing with the needs of the healthcare workforce.

"Joining Ascend puts Laudio in position to further empower frontline leaders to simplify their work and get them back to the human interactions that matter most," Richmond said in a statement.

THE LARGER TREND

In May, Ascend Learning acquired my TIPreport, which was integrated into Ascend's MedHub brand, enabling medical education institutions to track the performance of both medical trainees and programs.

Two months before, Ascend Learning acquired Clover Learning. The aim was to enhance Ascend's portfolio of allied health brands, with the added goal of advancing its mission to provide comprehensive training and certification offerings to healthcare professionals.

In 2023, Laudio announced that Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System joined its Series B funding round as a strategic investor and will implement its administrative workflows to drive employee efficiency and engagement.

That same year, Laudio raised $13 million in Series B funding. The company used the funds to deepen the action orientation of its platform and scale growth and product development.
